The rich don’t fear: A poem

When pennies are many

it is either or any

The gift of plenty

is more than ten and twenty

How so much full of charm

is benevolent fortune’s arm

That you can get what you want

and not let a doubt haunt

You can kick anyone in the rear

And not shed a single tear

You can make your wishes appear

And have no law make you fear

But what is wealth, what is more

when the heart in the end is all too sore?

Would you deserve life encore

when you shut generosity’s door?
