Second chance for love

O clam, are you safe, smug and warm?

Free from the rough seas’ rod of harm

Your heart is tender, but your blood’s gone cold

from the pain of past hurricanes, you did behold

Do you hear life’s sonorous beating waves

in your womb that is shut like a rock-blocked cave?

When you slip quietly on the ocean’s sandy floor,

do you ever consider flinging open your shell’s door?

If you think how cruel and self-defeating is love

when the seagulls of heartbreak storm above

If you could dance again, would you perchance

give love’s open waiting nets a second chance?
