Dear Mum and Dad: A poem

It is like waking up blind

The sunlight left behind

In a spidery alley

The accidental victim’s galley

Every comma in the footnote

spells the black pain in rote

Life’s blemishes of deluging rain

Hope’s grassroots in vain

It’s daunting when the drop is sheer

Courage like futile sweat and tear

Can’t figure out the key to the door

when ailments have your knees to the floor

Yet, you passed brave Mum and Dad

For you gave it all you had

We mourn the stars leaving the sky

Fate and faith, is not asking why

As you are always still very near

A mist enveloping, but, amidst, vision clear

Flowers and stars for you dear Dad and Mum

Your good remains silent, but never dumb
