God knows whom to blight: A poem

The roses in a brave soul

do not wither from the cold

The coal of the horizon is gold

for the selfless to behold

Though evil marks boundaries,

scales walls, builds foundries

The battles are far from over

Destiny doesn’t run for cover

If defeat comes with duty,

stoicism be fortitude’s beauty

Let not shackles bind like locks and chains

There is justice even in the lowliest of drains

There is a fortress in fortune’s night

where a flogged horse takes flight

For God brings the kiss of the knight

And His eye knows whom to blight
