The earth and sea are no reflection of the sky
The sea swells with pride, then falls with a sigh
The earth changes, but the sky is equanimous
and what should I say about the fire between us?
In the tea plantations, the pickers hastily gather
On the forested slopes, the monkeys chatter
In the temples, bells toll; the chanting’s pitter patter
The rains come in a flash, yet we seek no shelter
No hands held, no words exchanged; we are near and distant
But like the earth and sky, we measure like a constant
I have a secret to tell you that my universe is you
But I fear you will stomp on my ribs and say it’s untrue
My wishes cost me a fortune in the tonnes of felt pain
But in the chaos of aspiration, hope is never stained
Flesh meets dust, but in spirit’s aurora, blazing sparks fly
It is not just an illusion, then, that earth meets sky
