I always have you in my eyes: A poem

My love for you

is no neighbour’s orchard,

no forbidden fruit

cordoned off by walls,

We could be barricaded by destiny

But it doesn’t stop our eternity

The drawbridge may seem folded

and there may be no boat across the moat

I could have wished for wings

to take me to your tower

But I am a knight

who knows how to wait out the night

I can make a dessert out of a desert

count the lemons and limes of time

like a wizard who is so sublime

that he speaks the mendicant’s lines

I can age, and be forever young

speak with God’s immaculate tongue

And I can always have paradise

in my eyes

Hi, I am Monte Cyril Rodrigues and live in Melbourne, Australia. I am a retired journalist. I have been diagnosed with schizophrenia. I've had voices and visions all my life. I think it is a spiritual experience, my doctors think otherwise. I am a deeply spiritual person and keep having experiences with otherworldly realms.
