Our desires and those invisible fires: A poem

I can say I accept and don’t fidget with divine words

I don’t synthesize and digitalise the sounds I’ve heard

Do I need to feel certain that it should, eventually, all fall in place

Or take it in with sublime unexpectant grace

You see, these atoms that fit the molecules we live in

are only circling in an ignorance of believing

in the mundane; oblivious of the widest thing

that goes overwhelmingly beyond our dreams and understanding

And what we think we need to achieve is meagre winning

like a garment that can’t imagine what’s beyond its hemming

We can sense heat and cold but are unaware of radiation

We can believe in religion without experiencing any realisation

Because we love what is knowledge and we adopt what are lies

Because we fancy our relationships, and accommodate our ties

We think not how inimical are our materially satisfying desires

And how little we recognise, and respond to, those ignored invisible fires

Hi, I am Monte Cyril Rodrigues and live in Melbourne, Australia. I am a retired journalist. I have been diagnosed with schizophrenia. I've had voices and visions all my life. I think it is a spiritual experience, my doctors think otherwise. I am a deeply spiritual person and keep having experiences with otherworldly realms.
