Can we make peace with the faeces of evil?: A poem

You can see dignity is when you hold your own

against the visages and facades of selfishness,

ruthlessness and corruption. You can wallow

in muddy waters, never realising that purity is deformed

by the illusion of compatibility. Because you can’t see

your reflection in muddy waters. Compassion is not

a doormat that can be stomped upon, yet obtained

by captors.  And forgiveness of treachery doesn’t acquire

the magnanimity of stars. Cannibalism is in the evil that

murders and eats up your soul. I walk into the street

where some ignore me and some smile at me. I walk

into the shops where someone calls me darling.

Can you fathom that love and hate is as simple as that?

We are not all cut from the same cloth, though blood

runs in all of us. Homogeneity is a deception that we have

been led to believe. What is truth is in the Babel, not in the

common inheritance from Adam and Eve. Love can only be

honest. Our history may have been war, but is a testament to that.

Jesus may have said forgive your enemies for the crimes

they committed against you. But God didn’t edict that!

Christmas is a lie about Santa and the nativity of love!

Did it bring about the smudging of lines between nations?!

Religion is outsourced from beyond earthly comprehensions

It is simply not manmade. And there is a devious fallacy in some!

If you condone injustice, it becomes the sticky stains

on your walls for all posterity. Even rage can be forgotten,

but not hypocrisy. We can never have a misbegotten Utopia.

A Paradise of peace can’t be built on the faeces of evil.
