They made you walk through the scalding fire of the stars
through the thaw of nearby planets
through the frostbite of the far-flung ones
even the meteors and comets continual bombardment
The blackholes ripping you to your bones
The supernova exploding in your face
The radiation of quasars giving you the most painful sores!
They gave you a chair so gilt-edged
that its elbow rests were sharp-cutting razors
And what a party was your bed
screaming with nails, enough to thrust your flesh dead!
Did the moon embalm your wounds?
Or did it salt them to make them gnaw you like tombs?
And such was the treachery of all that dark energy
Did it want to play you your tortuous elegy
as it all fell like acid rain on your anatomy?
How did your universe survive such a meltdown?
Do you think they deserve your forgiveness…
Or a lethal fatal blow to the crown?
