Tell me, where generosity has gone?
When in seeking, you are all alone
Counting not blessings, but possessions
Are they wont to be your passions?
In far off lands, there are children
on the street, who have nothing at all to eat
And if you care to wallow in your greed
Little else matters but the edifices of your need
When for those that have little but share
An empty tomorrow they bravely dare
Heed the choices you are letting go by
If you insouciantly have humaneness die
For the gift of giving is receiving
sheer happiness. Not the deceiving
of material acquisitions garnered
And the spirit cruelly hindered.
Rich are those that benevolently care
the goodness in them that unfailingly share
True poverty is in the selfishness of the heart
In not knowing, altogether, what God art
you hit the nail on the head . beautifully written . thanks Monte
