Personal Gnosis – the stairway to heaven: A poem

When in seeking what we think is hot

And in finding what we ought not

We sacrifice which is deeply heartfelt

In pursuit of sheer material wealth

Can we redeem ourselves at this juncture

Of our soul-stripping acquisitive culture

In the knowledge that our illusory perception

Is nothing but an infernal deception

The more we want, the less we learn

It’s spiritual brownie points that we should earn

Haloed wisdom is in dispassionately living

Bereft of greed, impropriety and concupiscence

Success comes not from the wilfully ill-begotten

That as we dance in darkness, shines the light from within

Personal gnosis leads to the fusillade of revelation

it is the certain and only stairway to heaven

Hi, I am Monte Cyril Rodrigues and live in Melbourne, Australia. I am a retired journalist. I have been diagnosed with schizophrenia. I've had voices and visions all my life. I think it is a spiritual experience, my doctors think otherwise. I am a deeply spiritual person and keep having experiences with otherworldly realms.
