The evil wizard and the good prince: A poem

He who casts a spell

In evil does he dwell

Staking a claim on everything

And also to the rood and ring

And leaves the good prince with nothing

Not even his heart-felt wishing

Everyone fears the evil wizard

For his spells are a mighty hazard

Pain and suffering in the wake

He reaches out for all he can take

And the good prince’s toils come to nought

When all gifts are what he ought

It is a timeless excruciating battle

To fight with all one’s mettle

The evil wizard has a full-brimmed cup

But the good prince never gives up

For the day will come for all to see

When justice will be done for destiny
