Sisters: A poem

Growing up amid the love of siblings

The joy of sharing and the well-fared tidings

Tender years in the open playing fields

Blessings of childhood that innocence yields

And those calming dawns at the breezy beach

Uncaring and free, for the stars to reach

Dad’s open-heartedness, Mum’s love and duty

Untrammeled happiness that was our blissful reality

Did we not own the benevolence of God?

As we reckoned with adulthood, dealt with life’s sod

Yet we were gifted with the strength to be resilient

The joys of a phenomenal childhood were so effervescent

We learnt not to be mawkish but to be strong

Integrity taught by parents got us through all along

But what was gained from you my dear luminescent sisters

Was the incredible depth, strength and wisdom of feminine principles
