It is only a lifetime: A poem

Sometimes to wonder why there’s tribulation so much

When with goodness our conscience is always in touch

As we reckon, we do not deserve the overwhelming suffering

And worry and lament that life is not worth its offerings

Those with consummate poise have a deep lustre within

And those that ignore integrity for gain, are with evil ridden

Intemperance, hedonism and corruption are a tragic mortal folly

It is in being spiritually prudent that propitiousness will tally

Karma expresses justice, it is to it that we should sublimate

Then with future benevolence we will have our destined date

For God is love, but not forgiving. He puts us through the grind

With every rebirth, it is our own retribution we have to find

The soul that forgets it has to pay for previous crimes

Will be beset with additional pain with the passage of time

Those that are stoic are astute in understanding it is only a lifespan

Reward will come with graceful submission, what eternity will hand

Hi, I am Monte Cyril Rodrigues and live in Melbourne, Australia. I am a retired journalist. I have been diagnosed with schizophrenia. I've had voices and visions all my life. I think it is a spiritual experience, my doctors think otherwise. I am a deeply spiritual person and keep having experiences with otherworldly realms.
