Laughter and smiles: A poem

It is not unseemly to cry when we are in despair

Our tears are only a giving vent to miserable fare

But would be wrong to make a mountain of a molehill

Or as a result of our troubles to perpetrate ill-will

That benevolence in words and deeds will rain on the deserving

If we with fortitude bear, and quell all our misgivings

Remember to, gracefully, pay willingly for sins of past lives

It is in so doing that the bounty of spiritual windfall arrives

The taskmaster is cruel, but is love, as he wishes to purge

Us of our sins, and rescue us from the clutches of the demiurge

Grace is in willingly being contrite. Wisdom is in accepting judgement

Destiny has a solution to everything; for the deserving it is God-sent

Be generous in words and keep smiling even when in debilitating pain

Gratitude for a chance to make amends will never go in vain

Laughter is never lost; it is in thanking the eventual justice

That the alchemical burning concludes, with the rising from the ashes

Hi, I am Monte Cyril Rodrigues and live in Melbourne, Australia. I am a retired journalist. I have been diagnosed with schizophrenia. I've had voices and visions all my life. I think it is a spiritual experience, my doctors think otherwise. I am a deeply spiritual person and keep having experiences with otherworldly realms.
