Loneliness: A poem

That in a special way if we can touch the lives of others

We be profoundly blessed to help our lesser brothers

For there are many who live in the hopeless utter darkness

of loneliness. If only we could alleviate their starkness

Depression and mental illness happen in loneliness’ wake

Some have no choice but to involuntarily burn at its stake

Those who carry the crosses know it is painfully wearisome

Loneliness is a scourge that is incredibly burdensome

Selfishness is ruthlessly alone, hate is cruelly lonely

But then we have ourselves to blame only

But for those who have nobody’s kindness to depend on

need a little encouragement for every little act to be done

We come into this world all alone and in death are alone

So, can we reckon where our lives have brilliantly shone?

In caring, sharing and spreading cheer to the very bone

That is the endearing legacy bequeathed from God’s throne

Hi, I am Monte Cyril Rodrigues and live in Melbourne, Australia. I am a retired journalist. I have been diagnosed with schizophrenia. I've had voices and visions all my life. I think it is a spiritual experience, my doctors think otherwise. I am a deeply spiritual person and keep having experiences with otherworldly realms.
