Let our children learn: A poem

It would be fulfilling if we taught our children to discern

Good from evil, right from wrong; that they thus learn

At a nascent age, with wisdom and knowledge they burn

Like bright fires; and make the world a better place in turn

Innocence is pure but tragic; may with education they be inclined

To be astute, judicious and prudent; and not toe the line

Of materialism’s agenda, that will take them far from the divine

So they be ambitious for altruism, and be pacifist in time

Let righteous voices be louder than the noisome propaganda

that screeches all over today; that in this needy precarious hour

They bear the resolute will to act with justice and judgement

And be prodigious in keeping alive God’s supreme commandments

May needs be the objective, not the selfish urgency of desire

Let there be hate for corruption and war; thus thrust evil into the pyre

That such teaching brings the fight to each and every heart

The price that must be paid to eventually bring paradise on earth

Hi, I am Monte Cyril Rodrigues and live in Melbourne, Australia. I am a retired journalist. I have been diagnosed with schizophrenia. I've had voices and visions all my life. I think it is a spiritual experience, my doctors think otherwise. I am a deeply spiritual person and keep having experiences with otherworldly realms.
