Calling for justice: A poem

Can we profoundly wish that there be justice and fairness for all?

When those in power have advertently and cruelly abused these at every call

The narrative of justice has been met with hypocrisy since the beginning of time

The powerful clutch at the status quo with impunity and continue in crime

Such integrity-lacking misadventures have besieged us at every perceivable juncture

Powerful nations have victimised lesser contemporaries in a seemingly ruthless culture

There is no collective will, but the will of oligarchies that supersedes the moral benefits

Humanity goes abegging in a callous world order; alleged legislation only the mighty befits

Wars are contrived to suit the cartels much to the depredation of victimised nations

And religion has always been weaponised to dominate others without patience

Even ordinary individuals seek to gain ascendance by demeaning their neighbours

It is not wrong to cynically surmise that justice is docked at unsafe and insecure harbours

Have we any clue that even the most underprivileged human is equal in God’s tenacious eyes?

That our cruel pursuits annihilate divine codes of conduct and justice hopelessly dies

Let our eyes not be occluded by the propaganda, let astuteness alone prevail

That we be intrepid in following a righteous path, for ultimate justice to avail

  1. Monte – I cant find the works to appreciate this piece, whilst you string words with rhythm and tell a poignant tale . How lucky are we to have these poems to read completely free of charge !
