In the wilderness of ignorance: A poem

I feed my fears like a child

Thinking of the cruelty of the wild

The hunger and panic of the hunt and kill

And our world ruled by an oligarchy’s will

That wisdom is slaughtered by advocacy

No storms of awakening in a cup of tea

The stones of civilisation have no roofs

History, albeit, has been prey to wolves

Looking for dignity in the news

Reading desperately, I’m left with no clues

We have celebrities, leaders and their ruse

But to the real issues we have no muse

I see the ads tailored to sway you

With astuteness, I’ll only seek what’s true

But will the ignorants have a choice

when their fanned-up vanities have a voice?

Hi, I am Monte Cyril Rodrigues and live in Melbourne, Australia. I am a retired journalist. I have been diagnosed with schizophrenia. I've had voices and visions all my life. I think it is a spiritual experience, my doctors think otherwise. I am a deeply spiritual person and keep having experiences with otherworldly realms.
