A voice in character: A poem

A brave thought is the haloed touch

Like icons in a church

A broken wing mended after each storm

Is strength’s dew at every dawn

To love truly is to be free

Even when one sheds like an autumn tree

An orchard bears fruit for others

Milk for all from a cow’s udders

To free the bird from the cage

Even if it hurts; and feel no rage

To burn with dignity and smote selfish desire

To be a flame and not scorch like fire

The rock that duty to goodness emulates

When the ship is burdened with weight

The captain feels the gratitude

That at the port it will come good

Hi, I am Monte Cyril Rodrigues and live in Melbourne, Australia. I am a retired journalist. I have been diagnosed with schizophrenia. I've had voices and visions all my life. I think it is a spiritual experience, my doctors think otherwise. I am a deeply spiritual person and keep having experiences with otherworldly realms.
