How can I write poetry…?: A poem

How can I write poetry?

When my life is bereft of a story

Youth’s riverbed ran empty and dry

when I did believe hope was worth a try

The heart paced without a lover’s embrace

Nor the face of beauty did grace

Not mine were the kisses of fate’s promises

Adulthood’s sky was all wishes with misses

Should I then abandon poetry?

Maybe write with a touch of melancholy

But I will not let bitterness my lyric sully

For dignity is the mountain in my valley

I will not rue fortune’s thrones

I will find comfort among the stones

A dash of humility is the poor weaver’s thread

The gratitude at providence’s lessons is his bread

Hi, I am Monte Cyril Rodrigues and live in Melbourne, Australia. I am a retired journalist. I have been diagnosed with schizophrenia. I've had voices and visions all my life. I think it is a spiritual experience, my doctors think otherwise. I am a deeply spiritual person and keep having experiences with otherworldly realms.
