Whipped up my hopes like egg yolks
Before they were hatched, I spoke
The fast car that screeched at a red light
left the driver pale with fright
The nightmare is in the vision
Hell burns from shattered illusions
I took flight on a fledgling’s wings
Now am sore with the wind’s swings
Promise me no more
It corrupts me to the core
Wishes are not wings but feathers
They can come loose like unfastened tethers
I will not punish myself with a broken promise
The heart flutters first, then goes amiss
That modesty bears no greed and sorrow
Today’s hurt is a lesson for tomorrow
Very good intact too good
