Delilah: A poem

Gone are the days that I loved you

I should have known your love was not true

Lightning struck my limbs; thunder made me deaf

I knew no direction, neither right nor left

You left me bleeding, you cut my locks

My boat was left stranded and empty in the docks

The moon’s face is pale with lies in the night

The season is over; I wish death for my plight

I raged in the temples, was flogged for my fight

The drought rages over my country, doom is in sight

I am ravaged by locusts, thorns prick every pore

Your whispers are stones, pelting me sore

My armies are decimated, the enemy always wins

I have paid a hefty price, all for your sins

Be gone – and leave me alone in my despair

Fortune favours the wicked, defeat is innocence’s share

  1. Ou no Monte , I can feel your pain . This price would resonate so many who are in similar plight . You are brave and courageous to stare life in its face and oh so beautiful to express your experiences as such
