Injustice runs naked in full view: A poem

Sunshine of reality dampens illusion

In alleys, punctured cans of derision

Shallow laughter ground like embers

And even as night falls, one can’t remember

For, pain can be occluded like the stars

Yet, they poke their light in unseemly hours

Those that can’t see them from their towers

don’t know that poverty is a tough sentence without vowels

Can a broken soul revel in new romances?

Can a lame person swing to relentless dances?

The talk of progress is wooden with the disparities

Our castles are surrounded by civilisation’s shanties

Can the pages of our history each be rewritten?

If remorse can return since the apple was long bitten

Can we have regret bind our books like glue?

We only overlook the injustice that runs naked in full view

Hi, I am Monte Cyril Rodrigues and live in Melbourne, Australia. I am a retired journalist. I have been diagnosed with schizophrenia. I've had voices and visions all my life. I think it is a spiritual experience, my doctors think otherwise. I am a deeply spiritual person and keep having experiences with otherworldly realms.
