Happiness: A poem

This be much honey in our tea

even if the race run has no trophy

An invisible diamond-adorned finger

Each moment we cherish to linger

The flight arriving, miraculously, on time

The beggar’s gracious joy at just a dime

Mum’s meal reappearing like nostalgia’s wine

Someone dear telling you: “you are mine”

What the disheartened do for a touch

Accepting a little as little too much

That even a feather is worth a goldmine

Childhood’s freedom that lasts is divine

Each day of life being relived like a birthday

To imagine blessings always coming your way

In moments, when only sadness holds sway

talking about happiness all through the day

Hi, I am Monte Cyril Rodrigues and live in Melbourne, Australia. I am a retired journalist. I have been diagnosed with schizophrenia. I've had voices and visions all my life. I think it is a spiritual experience, my doctors think otherwise. I am a deeply spiritual person and keep having experiences with otherworldly realms.
