To my Rufio, who I never saw: A poem

I never saw you when you were alive

but you came like a dye in my spiritual eye

The darkness beyond sensory vision

is a real colour, not light’s illusion

And you can take love for what it takes

Undulating is the gradient that it stakes

A spirit burns perpetually like an undying flame

An uncaptioned picture can have a name

And I can learn a lot from a humble dog

that there is no life that is a mere cog

There is meaning, though not obviously seeming

and that love is a film that needs no screening

Hi, I am Monte Cyril Rodrigues and live in Melbourne, Australia. I am a retired journalist. I have been diagnosed with schizophrenia. I've had voices and visions all my life. I think it is a spiritual experience, my doctors think otherwise. I am a deeply spiritual person and keep having experiences with otherworldly realms.
