O God, I thank Thee: A poem

O God, I thank Thee for your wondrous work of art

There’s beauty in my life, a sense of duty sets me apart

Thanks for the love I gathered, the souls I’ve brothered

Even little children are mentors teaching all that mattered

I know I am a universe in Thine eyes, where nothing is small

I have built the temples of my life shaped to Thy call

And, in all my little errors, I humbly wish to recall

that Thy judgment for me is mercy, another chance for it all

Truth is not a plaything; you can’t kick it like a ball

The athlete that fakes it has his back to Thy wall

Honesty is bold letters even if it is a lowly scrawl

Thou asks for integrity, where even the puny stand tall

Fame and fortune to Thee are mere whiskers, just a whisper

My gift from you is a guardian angel; in bliss I have kissed her

We may cast long shadows of ego, yet we have to depart

And the knowledge of that reality, we should see from the start
