I am always on top: A poem

I have to say that the devil shut all the doors

after pretending he wants to be my oars

I can’t be fooled to plunge into the well

He thinks I’ll be deceived to create my own hell

I can be a horse with a nightmare at every stare

But I’m a zebra who is always ready to dare

The poison can’t kill me, for I am no weed

And I have an impregnable shield to the devil’s misdeed

They tried to blind me, but I had it all read

And every pitfall I had courage to tread

No water is blood, no deluge is flood

Though I seldom won, my struggle is no mud

And I may be tired, but I am always fired

This old is bold, like all the love I sired

And I know when to stop, like I know when to hop

Though I am humble and can tumble, I’m always on top

Hi, I am Monte Cyril Rodrigues and live in Melbourne, Australia. I am a retired journalist. I have been diagnosed with schizophrenia. I've had voices and visions all my life. I think it is a spiritual experience, my doctors think otherwise. I am a deeply spiritual person and keep having experiences with otherworldly realms.
