A tribute to Mum and Dad: A poem

The journey-fellow may be hard-pressed to travel

But he always feels the pain to farewell

There may be a mammoth blocking his front yard

But he is always onward like an intrepid diehard

These loans of stones are the metal for his drones

He knows that Dad and Mum are fit for mighty thrones

His artwork is frail, yet as tough as the creator’s own bones

Mythology, history and geography are all overlapping zones

If you want to count the stars, it may take eternal hours

Mum and Dad are behind you, like a crescendo has bars

Did you know their guidance is like driverless cars?

This land seems arid, but is not fallow. We await the showers!

Mum and Dad want no thanks. They are fuel in the tanks

My parents were humble, but were certainly not mere file and ranks

O Dad! I am always glad. O Mum! I am never numb.

I have your grace and strength. Always upward is my thumb!
