Dear William Faulkner: Never be afraid…Likewise me!: A poem

You can believe and have faith, and have fear

flushed out of the valves of your lion heart

Would they think they could insinuate you

if you did not fear? Or would you think they could

honeytrap you? Did they try every means to get you?

And you felt age is no barrier, not even undeserved punishment;

even pain! There is too much to lose if you stop

believing in yourself; or be intimidated by the treachery?

Should you lose a battle, still have pride in the fact

of bravery; and swear that the war is never over!

You may feel deterred by the fact that the edifices of evil

will never fall with your honesty; what value is valiance?

And speaking the truth can invite an ignominious defeat?

But should they all shudder from their dormant conscience

And be shaken by your defiance of their lies and selfishness!

You can be deemed maverick…maniac …or psychopath for it!

Freedom can also come from non-violence, non-cooperation and satyagraha

Like patience can never be defeated, nor can virtuosity

Death doesn’t deal a fatal blow; courage finds transmigration!

I am no mere fragment that didn’t witness the corporeality of my eternity!

Thank you William Faulkner, for these priceless pearls!

I always had that wisdom engraved like hieroglyphs in my soul’s stone

Did I need their education, with all my wisdom; likewise you?

“Never be afraid to raise your voice for honesty and truth

and compassion against injustice and greed!”

Even poetic justice may prove to be a justice of sorts. I didn’t insist on closure!
