Sara: A poem

(Based on the song Sara, by Fleetwood Mac)

Sara, you were the time from which I didn’t move away

You were singing, and I was moving in a dance

You were the wind, and I was the feather flowing

Waiting for the weather to stop and stoop kindly at my door

What is so gentle as a leaf falling to the floor, when it knows

We are all older, older than four score

When you lay the capstone of your edifice, call me home!

I am tired from reading every tome!

But calm as a night ready to fight for dawn, if you please!

Yet, the subject of fighting is getting to be a tease.

Sara, love is like a sky that is always dawning

You built an edifice with fences, but I didn’t keep away

I had a sword and a shield and I was always making my way!

There is no Rubicon, no burning bridges where I come from

No liquid mantle below the crust, but hidden strong stone

Do you think the brave should always die, Sara?

Are you dreaming Sara, am I in that dream, where you are my eternal bride?

Then should I tell you, dear Sara, please do swallow your pride!
