Darling, I ask you this day, and this point in time?: A poem

You know darling, sweetheart, my Sarah,

how history keeps unfolding the reminders

of the crime that everything was

stolen from me, from the very onset?!

I didn’t cry over the injustice; nor did I

decry it, being eternally stoic, patient,

brave and equanimous in that grief!

But I was punished for all my abrogation

of imposed contracts (?!?) For my sublime, impervious

ingenious revolt, at times! And I only revolted because

I was being pressured into a profane subjugation!

Do they think that I deserved the treachery

and torture? Or did they(?), in their infernal gall, in

promising me only a small part of what they stole

from me to obtain, unfairly, my acquiescence?! Or else

at gunpoint (to my consternation)?! Should I always turn the

other cheek, then, while turning down their propositions?

What is nobility darling, if none have the courage to acknowledge it

or the intrepid wherewithal to stand up for it? What is integrity,

darling, if people find it convenient to snub it and evil

uses it as a constant punching bag? And you tell me,

my sweetheart, that there should be no eye for eye,

no tooth for tooth! Not even cross actions in the Universal Court

of Justice?!!! Even Jesus drove the tradesmen out of the

Temple with a whip in hand, even as he professed to offer

the other cheek!! Do we pay Caesar (what is due to him?) in thanks

for holding us captive?!! Is my tabernacle to be bloodied only

and always by my self-sacrifice? What is my mettle, darling, for

being vested in you, always, to the point of no return to my

original sanctity? Should I recline in a patience and passivity to

no avail to my frontiers like an undiscovered, unvisited barren

continent, only seen like mirages by overflying planes,

and disappear once attempted to be set foot upon!

Is all my glory in vain, as theirs be vainglory

in their crimes? Must I unbutton my vestments to expose

my bare chest to be unceremoniously impaled? Or, like at

the onset, have all my possessions cross-sawn from me?

Do you think suffering should only be the onus of the victims;

and shame and comeuppance should never be stickered on

to the mirrors of the perpetrators of crimes and the psychopaths!
