I wouldn’t play croquet with the queen
If she used large birds to hit the ball,
I have a few goals to find, but I’ve been…
Waiting…for a stork, standing tall
I have seen so many horizons sink
like hasty evenings, in an eye-blink
And is it dying, to embers, my fire
even though I’ve not shouted from the rooftops: I am tired?
It’s all the patience and sublimity that I’ve hired
It’s all the humility and humour that I’ve sired
I think I’ve told Mum: I never would ever consider losing you
And turn to Dad and say: And you too!
The pictures I have in mind are graphic art
And they have come out right from the start
from every auricle and ventricle of my heart
Such love cannot be torn apart!
Who would want Paradise if I had to choose?
Who would want heaven if I had to lose,
anyone I love, anyone I cherish?
Let all those insecurities perish
They (the perpetrators) want me to sit at their table
Hold the demons in their stable
You know they murdered, stole, hijacked and burgled
And, in my virtuous innocence, it was me that was punished and struggled!
But I feel the salt on my fingers
tasting what is that I see as destiny-bringers
I am burning quiet, in my own lamp light
The Siege Perilous is darkened, but I am bright
It is not just my imagination taking flight
On my right, I whisper to my True Love if freedom is in sight?
If the magnum opus is an auto bus
between the stars, like the Universe’s gust?
See who I am! See who I am?
Do you think I’m only their (the perpetrators’) sacrificial lamb?
