I didn’t think I needed someone else’s song to get along!: A poem

I didn’t think I needed someone else’s song,

to rivet in a ding-dong, to play along

I just sought a lyric in candour

every time I shut my own door!

In my heart, at least I know

I want to be in a place I was before

Mum was in step with me, with a lamp

And saying: Son, you are a fighter, not just a sacrificial lamb

So till now, I set higher my own amp

I didn’t seek the glamour of the dapper speedways; I did retreat

The back lanes were all my little street

No glory comes if you don’t stylise or weaponise your cause

In fact, you may be in for a heavy inconsolable loss!

Mum said: Remember son, Mars was catastrophised and died,

but life was never belied!

I keep believing; even when I am up to my nose

You know, that’s because I chose the kiss of an unwithering rose

If you look into the mirror you see what’s behind you

It’s no illusion; but a room where love was true

If you pick up the pieces, you may realise your nieces

was the one truly meant for you!

Some people think they can walk behind my eyes, and see my size

And tell the truth from the lies

They wouldn’t have a clue that truth is not their toys

to manipulate (and make me rue) in a cacophony of sodomic noise

And I love like I love those I love, even my darling pets

Is someday as good as it gets?

And I can tell you one thing I hid; that my father was also my boy

I am never coy, just evil wants to estrange me from my joy!

Pardon me Dad, the garden we had

is so unmanifested now, it is leaving me incredibly sad!
