Hey Wishmaster, I need my pain, to realise and self-aware myself: A poem

(Based on the movie Star Trek V: The Final Frontier, and a monologue delivered by Captain James T Kirk – William Shatner)

We travel to places where we have been before

like migratory beasts, walking from shore to shore,

from grove to grove, grassland to grassland;

that’s how we discover the elephantine emotion in us

What is the future, but something we only hoped for?

And the past is the whole structure, the entire format

of our invincibility; the pain of the past  is our fortress

where we feel so secluded, so insulated

And yet is the ramparts of the love we feel!

Hey Wishmaster! Don’t try to take away my pain!

It is not for you to decide what part of my past

be taken away from me, nor of anybody else’s!

We love out of the pain we feel, and there is

agony and ecstasy in it, like the two colours on the piano!

Hey Wishmaster, don’t guarantee! You don’t hold the key,

only the mendacious word to something that crumbles before

it is perceived, like a dysfunctionality in the superficiality of

belying the integral; a deafening entreaty rather than Open Sesame!

I am built on the sinews of my sacrifice and suffering

Their  beauty shimmers through my veins, through the

corridors of aeons of self-belief! If everyone can reflect in a mirror

the expanse of their seemingly lost emotion, left behind;

they may discover it is still with them, like a crown of thorns

to make them feel real in what they value and in self-validation!

It’s the God that is the miracle in us! Take away your prepositions,

and don’t make them the suppositions of all I love, or of all we

love and value. You are far too presumptuous; and I am an unassuming

battle for myself, and for the ones I love, to keep our candour,

our honesty and honest humility, our earnestness and our integrity.

The gift of love is not superficial like your candy floss. Your alleged

euphoria is no golden riband of inebriation, but an illegitimate

treatise to your eternal treachery! Don’t even conjecture that

you can take away all our pain; the pain that you, yourself, inflicted on us!!!!
