I once had and always have a girl…: A poem

I once had and always have a girl,

Or should I say, did she always have me?

Like a vapour that settles on you,

never dissipating. I spontaneously

learnt to  sing, with or without wings!

She showed me her room,

never too soon, a profound wood,

the ring and the rood! I lost

all my perception, then I saw

a blinding new light; a sacrifice, that

must suffice! It’s a perpetuity, not an addiction,

not a vice!  And I knew this

was no maiden run, it just wasn’t

going to be fun; though there was laughter

in my lungs. The Joker sits in a corner,

forgotten for his honour; and he is

 making everyone move everywhere.

Only she says shoo! There! Even if I lose

my hair, my nerves and veins are so rare!

I breathe like a dragon, without a weapon,

Would I think it could happen?

She answers without a solution’s token!

I am just the Knight, who fell through

the night! I thought I lost my way,

but with all the swagger and the sway!

Does the Grail ever fail

betweren heads and tails?

Life is as hard as nails!

But true understanding never impales!

Do I think of release from an eternal jail?

And she tells me she may just as well say Nay!

Rather betray! And I think, still, Love

is magic. In the nick of a trick!

And yet, a tree, rooted, but free!

And I feel the awakening

in a moment, seeing Mum and Dad,

with a smile, without a lament.

Their love is eclectic, yet unidimensional

and certainly not stagnant! Can I make my mark?

The Knight who holds the Ark. Far East of

Beulah as Varc(a)! She (True Love) tells

me finally, it’s not so stark!

There’s light after the dark!
