I don’t think he needed go-go girls or cheerleaders
to give vibes to his performances; and what
performances they were in a hard corner, of a
pokey apartment on a lower-class suburban street!
His aspirations were on the much-abused list,
languishing as they were, as if they would, in
any case, become cup meals for greedy opportunists!
You can charge him with love, or with deceit, or with snares,
or with hypocrisy, or with unjustifiable offences;
The actual thieves get a long line while his integrity is demeaned.
And he insists: we all need Paradise; but would we
be carving it out from the wrong ends?
And you’d blame that there was folly in his facts,
for your convenience, because there was trouble in his truths
So life was never easy for him with all the prejudice and hate!
He wouldn’t opt for hemlock like Socrates or die in vain like
Van Gogh, even if you pilloried him in locks and chains!
But he would takes leaps of faith, while you all presumptuously
believed in untruths. Did you think sacrifice is as common as
selfishness? He wouldn’t jump out of his golden-diamond skin to
land in less hostile dimensions; if you would call that a great
convenient escape. He was just meant to be the Houdini who
would take up the cudgels and, in fact, would carry the cross!
