I am drowning in a brandy, or beer
Thinking that my tale is not that of King Lear
I am just touching my sixty-second year!
And what do I hear, what do I hear?!
I hear it like a knock on the door, so near!
Like a squat on the floor, right to my ear
They are saying: Love is here, love is here!
I am thinking this may be too late in my life, but still very, very dear!
And the voices aren’t giving me any choices
But I still feel flattered by their noises
This is a pinnacle that I wear like a necklace
A crescendo that is sealed with a kiss
An age coming good with bliss
Dear Miss (baby girl), my blues are all over the Mississippi like a mist!
And when I touch the bounteous cornucopia of an apparition, I think it is my gist!
God, how old I’ve grown; if you could have known
life over my mountains and valleys has blown
But I still have true love in my soul’s every bone
Between the lyric, tune and tone
And I hear my Dad say: Bless you, my son!
If the battle that was lost, was won
And we might be older than the sun!
Mum is always as sweet and inspiring as coke and rum
I just am going to be struck dumb
with all these kindred souls spouting so much gratifying love!
And I feel I am flying, racing and gracing every Gem-like trum`pet’-blaring star high above…!
