Look at me I am no speck of sand!: A poem

I am no torn mountaintop from the vagaries

of time. The wind doesn’t break me even if

it comes like a storm; and the bubbles of the

stream don’t brand holes in my torso. I am

not asleep for a 100 years like Bakasura,

vulnerable in my prolonged siesta. I lived

my hard knuckled lifetimes, suffering for the

crimes of others! I am a cliff that drops down/

hits the earth with truths, that the earth does not easily

comprehend as hard and fast rules. In fact, all the earth’s

fields are shaking their trees in disbelief at my veracity,

but I am still convicted to orientation,  like a continent

that doesn’t change shape over the ages! I am

built like a fortress whose ramparts can sustain any

attack. And yet, I am an idealistic mountain peak

in the clouds that can be prone to the beleaguerment

of opportunists! For, vandals love to imprint their

shadows on my soul with the prospect of gaining

my submittance! I am hasty to abrogate these

convoluted self-seeking contracts! I have no affinity

to the albatross no matter how high it flies, and

I wouldn’t relinquish my honour to it even if it

came to me on its knees! I am terra firma and fire-

sky, not a sun hopelessly sinking beneath the seas!

Hi, I am Monte Cyril Rodrigues and live in Melbourne, Australia. I am a retired journalist. I have been diagnosed with schizophrenia. I've had voices and visions all my life. I think it is a spiritual experience, my doctors think otherwise. I am a deeply spiritual person and keep having experiences with otherworldly realms.
