O I could love you till…
the snowflakes deep-fry to fritters
Till the hot coke of the engine train
turns to a drenching rain
Till the cubist home of my apartment block
has a turret that is high as the sky
Till the birds fly so high
that their wings are painted with the gold of sunllight
Till flowers creep out of the ground
And turn the whole world around
I could love you till day
is shy as midnight dark
And animals stop differentiating
between carnivore and herbivore
And roots spring out as my hair
and tree trunks become moving torsos
Till brave men jump out of their graves
and revive all those lost defeated battles
Oh I could love you till
earth communicates with the exteriors of the Universe!
Till all the pots and pans in the kitchen
cook up, on their own, your favourite dish!
Till the floor actually folds up like a sheet
and makes you a bed in my arms!
That if all this outpouring from walled distances
are heard all over, even if they were a mere little subdued emotion!
