You are the wind beneath my wing!: A poem

(An idea took root from Ella Langley’s song: Weren’t for the wind)

You know it is all a roller-coaster ride, and I am a rolling stone!

I think of love all the time, and how it cuts me to the bone

So, I am movin’ on, movin’ on, with every bit of my life!

Do you think all this bloomin’ movin’ is causing all the strife?

I spoke to the wind, and it was light against my ear

And I said the pain is killin’ me, but I’m gettin’ bolder year after year!

And I walked outta the door so many times, and seldom shed a tear,

If love didn’t mean so much to me, then, how come I’m always looking into the mirror to the rear!

I shed all the stars from the sky as if I was sweeping the untidy floor

And sometimes, you are so deceitful, baby girl, I shouldn’t really be asking for more!

I do it blindly for you, baby girl, do you think I am not in the know

Yet, if you whistle out your plans for me, baby girl, I’d still be knocking at your door!

I didn’t know it was the wind talking, taking me to all the places I was before

But being a changeling baby, I am just believin’ I’m fate’s plaything

I know the wind chatters too much, but I can also hear it sing

And I still believe (what it says) my baby girl, that you are the wind beneath my wing!
