When I get over-emotional,
I feel like a tree shedding leaves;
though the tears do not drip from
my eyes so quick. So, that I know
I’ve been slathered in flattery
to fall to indignity! I am never manic,
though gripped by grief, ever so
often; but always lending an immense smile
and cheer for all the offences against me!
History can be hysteria, but the solidity of
my impregnability, suffers indignation
not destruction. Yes, I die, often defeated,
but indomitable. If you can screen my mind
to make me vulnerable, if you can hijack my
loves to make me gullible, if you can thieve
my desires to make me unaspirational. I am
as tormented as the Phantom of the Opera,
would you call me the hated sacrificial genius
of truth and justice over the ostentatious beauty of
inviting love that is simply admirable without virtue!
You can love me or you can hate me, you can
judge me or discard me. I sing to be perceived
as the public enemy, but to be obsessive for
truth and justice, for the music of the Universe,
and to be sacrificial for love as well as fight for it!
If you believe that the Phantom is not evil, not
omnipotent, not invincible; but static, patient and
potent in his eternity. He is numinous like a dark horse
in your dreams that you both fear and want to possess.
Because he is an eternal flame that is not bland, but
shaped by the injustices done to him, which you are all
unaware of! Who, then, is the liar on the lyre! Can Christine
ever choose! I am not here to discriminate between Raoul
and the Phantom! This modern mythology is not a depiction
of me or my adversary! But I’d like to say to you all: Evil is
always boring and easy; and the most convenient thing.
Righteousness is very hard on you, and makes you suffer undeservedly!
(Shame on you all for relentlessly being perverted by the evil
that wants to besiege me!)
