They try invariably to interrogate me to find out if I am God!: A poem

The golden benevolent thread in my head

could rather have me dead

But if things come to a head

I could be as light on you all as spitting lead!

And if you all think I’m a fool

I’ll tell you that baffling is my bull

And I’m a little warm and a little too cool

The pianoGod that sets the rule!

The chant of the maverick

resists the bitterest trick

I can set every bonnet with a bee

And every meadow with a wrathful lea!

Should the treacherous think I’m unawares?

This soprano wistfully shares

The most diminutive his greatness is, as he dares

Would you wish him to destroy all your deceitful lairs?

His cruelty is because he cares

that your souls don’t fall to evil snares

Are you all blind to what he silently shares?

True freedom comes through a fee through the thoroughfares!
