(on the 40th anniversary of the Phantom of the Opera!)
When there was darkness, me the phantom, the knight
turned on the lights with all my might!
And all the heavy shadows
became featherweights at the doors!
There was a rose on the lips that kissed me
And the sun arose too, with thee!
What was the night before
I fail to remember that chore
where I hid you…the thought of you
so translucent and so opaque, but it is true
that it is now as transparent as you…?!
As if the entire universe was a daylight in crystal
a moment so sublime, making an opera with every minstrel
that it traversed the entire realm of eternity
that we find our solitude to forget the world, let it be(!)
and yet, regain it and retain it
with its history and mystery, every bit!
Must it be forever, dear
in your arms, this cheer?!
Where are the binaries, sweet child o’ mine?!
In the stars, all in a cosmic line(?)
or in the algorithms,
between our rhythms?
Or, simply put, in our arms
where you can come to no harm (I have all the amulets and charms!)
That’s all I ask of you….
To hold my hand, wherever I go…that it be true
the love you have for me
last not just a lifetime, but for eternity!
