Monte (not me); (I am `not me’; but not `I am’): A poem

Not me was the humongous tower

But me was the tower struck by lightning

Not me was Babylonian Anu, or Hittite Alalu

But me was Ouranos mutilated and scourged

Not me was the hand creating Sapiens Man

But me was Enoch negotiating with the aliens

Not me was Ravan who abducted his own daughter, Sita

But me was Ram walking through fire to set her free

Not me were cities fallen to lust

But me was Jacob wrestling with the evil angels

Not me was the chief Rabbi of Jerusalem

But me was Samson crushed under the pillars

Not me was Goliath who claimed victims

But me was diminutive David with the hand sling-shot

Not me was Saint Paul the powerful Roman spy

But me was James the Just stoned brutally to die

Not me was the lecherous Philip the Fair or Pope Clement V

But me was Jacques du Molay, burnt at the stake

Not me were the Egyptian priesthood wanting their pantheon

But me was Moses demanding and struggling for the Promised Land…

…and in the end, never getting there!

Hi, I am Monte Cyril Rodrigues and live in Melbourne, Australia. I am a retired journalist. I have been diagnosed with schizophrenia. I've had voices and visions all my life. I think it is a spiritual experience, my doctors think otherwise. I am a deeply spiritual person and keep having experiences with otherworldly realms.
