Gracias a la vida!: A poem

Can I recall Plath, Sexton, Hemmingway…

when their beautiful words could not take away

their feeling of utter misplacement in existence, anachronism, grief?

Are we to believe that eventuality should be susceptible to sorrow and disillusionment?

Or do we believe that only winter (destined cause) should take down the leaf, even of Les Miserables?

Not just Plath, Sexton, Hemmingway…

So many creative but unrenowned poets have fallen by the wayside

As if poetry could not lend them their strength

As if their words could not recommend their bravery in battle

How do we live to die to take away the truth within us?!

That grief and suffering must bereave us, but not bewitch us

I ask with candour how many poets have taken their own lives?

Are there as many politicians who do the same?

Who are all the more hardwired to be tough then,

when politicians are more of the treacherous men??

But I should not say all of them, again?

Some are Triumphant out of their righteousness

Even if they are, in their vulnerability, calumnised as felons

It is the treacherous ones who hastily defend themselves

Most of the time righteous men are scapegoated by impious journalistic hobgoblin-elves!

I, myself, live as righteous as can be; but there is a sordid reality that bludgeons me

And in the wake of which, I have exhibited utmost integrity and intrepidity

You know distasteful ANAtomical toxicity defrauds me!

I have no parallax when it comes to reading characters of evil men

I don’t suffer from paramnesia (though many prefer to think otherwise for their own convenience). It is no spoonerism that I say:

I despise the pa(u)ll-bearer; pierce him with a humongous awl!!!

I have been subject to a treachery and defrauding for eternity,

My life has been fraught with very, very, very, very, very, very, very much difficulty!!!!

But look Plath, Sexton, Hemmingway and many of you unfortunate poets,

I never subjugated myself, even in being absolutely humble to destiny!

I live in earnest soulful beauty, integrity, intrepidity…

And despite all the horrifying hardship, I have always maintained: “Gracias a la vida!”

I think it is a spiritual experience, my doctors think otherwise. I am a deeply spiritual person and keep having experiences with otherworldly realms.
