On Moses and his Habiru Mother’s word!: A poem

Did we pass the parted Red Sea feeling ourselves float

like a carnival flottila to enshrine the land across

as the Promised Land! The sand dunes of the Suez

roiled in the winds and blasted our tents, as we

made our way, sometimes, feeling the pangs of biting

hunger in desperation for the manna to fall from

the skies repeatedly, and dew to quench the thirst of

our tongues! How was Moses (Akhenaten) so strong that he

had the will to abandon his eternal city – Tel el Amarna, when he

discovered he was nothing but an inferior Habiru;

and his mother lived in an expat hovel; keeping her

chaste secret locked in her bosom! How it must have pained

her to see her son, a proud Pharaoh, fall to such decline!

Moses taught the Jews then, the divine machinations

that were Pharaonic and Egyptian priesthood secrets!

He even went to the extent of killing a priesthood Man,

For he was hated for being Habiru, as also affiliating with

his Habiru brethren. But for Moses, it was only his Mother’s

word! The word that made him fight for the timelessly

disputed Promised Land of Israel; and for his beleaguered chosen peoples!
