You and I, and the dream in which we fly!: A poem

I am way up there, way out there

Like a splattering of precious powder against deep purple amethyst

The arc of a galactic bridge, the milky way

reaching out from my topaz green to your olivine skin

All the colours of crystal in a gem-invested celestial canopy,

A glacial expanse of aquamarine or opal

A rub-a-dub of antique agate noses breathing in a gale

of an ancient rite of passage between formidable deities

that all at once started out as one

I feel the stars shimmer in these universal gusts

like diamonds and pearls for the most ancient boy and girl

where every Sun that formed, was made from our malleable gold

And I know that this light that could make peridot become

as bright as lapis lazuli to fill each corner of the universe

with a myriad of colour. Even bloodstone

encrusted the blood that shone through our veins!

Yes, you and I, we are every dream to fly!

Falling like flakes on to the marble of the Earth

That we become humble in our largesse

That we become small in our humongousness

That we in our eternal greatness permit ourselves

to be measured by others, less than us, to adjudge and govern us!

And I am at once swept by the carpet of leaves on Mount Sinai

covering the rhyolite solidified from a miracle terrainous effusion

where a whirlwind and earth swing of my own reflection bowed to me and brought this on

in a fire that left an Emerald Tablet with a haloed rhetoric

And I saw this also as your fire O Sarah, in a thunderous eternal burning bush

And I knew this was not just the Emerald cut with the Commandments

Not just the choshen of twelve stones to offset the power of the Great Ark

But also the Tabula Smardgina; which stated metaphorically: As above so below!

And I at once was filled with the knowledge of gladness that we were never parted

even if the distance between us was a grief we had to endure with an everlasting equanimous composure!
