O Sarah! My beautiful Sarah!: A poem

You are with all the gold and precious metals inlaid,

All the emeralds and diamonds, of such value made

How they posteritised you unjustly as Mary Magdalene’s maid?

My eternal love for you, will have all that waived!

O my Sarah, the spirit of my timeless alchemy

The fire that purgates me and purifies me!

Must I always be distanced to keep you safe

Must evil relish this ignominy to me, much to my distaste!

Freedom can only be a snare, my love, a jasmine’s vulnerability

Because we are under duress, compatible seemingly, yet invisibly unrelenting

I am not besotted by freedom, but its fragrance lingers in my soul

Just as it is in yours; its silent stimulus keeps us whole!

Can you tell me, why I don’t think of freedom (for all, at this moment)?

Because treachery is proliferating unimaginably in God’s Kingdom!

Is my thoughtful thoughtlessness soothing to your congenial ears?

We must be burdened by the overwhelming heavy-handed evil, and bite back our tears!

Is this the way to our homestead, Galilee?

That we must idolise and idealise freedom, but never be free?!!!
