I thought I heard an inner voice
say: Song Sung Blue!
And I thought it was all around the Mississippi
How should I say: Miss, I miss
When my blue shirt feels like it’s as blue as the evening that is just turning to dusk
I see my reflection calling out over the horizon to a shadow of you
It is only a birthday, tomorrow
I also love the memory of love, not just love
I’ve given up wearing blue jeans
But the sky will always be blue for me
Like a remembered conversation that is constantly replayed in time
My years have fallen like evaporated dew
Does it leave an immemorial stain, like a sin (allegedly to all) one cherishes
Like a win one clutches, as if you don’t want to let go even with death
And I don’t know if you can reciprocate, or feel sure to do so
I don’t know if I will ever be able to tell you before I go!
There is a lot of sadness, but no grief
And if there is grief, it is only brief
But the sky will (for me) always remain blue
Just like I will (for eternity) never give up on the love I have for you!
